Kallithea Springs

The Kallithea Springs are situated in the city of Kallithea, next to Faliraki and are only 9km away from the city of Rhodes. The Kallithea facilities were inaugurated by the Italians on 1st July 1929 and they were known from the ancient times for the curative and laxative properties of their water. This brought visitors, mostly patients and scientists from all around the world. Despite the devastation and abandonment the monument suffered through the years, the Springs were once again restored by the city of Kallithea, with the official openining to the public occuring in July 2007.

Nowadays, the Kallithea Springs are characterised as the best attraction of the island, based on their history, monumental architecture and natural beauty.

The springs host events of different types, like weddings, picture and art exhibitions and even music concerts. One may also enjoy the pleasure of refreshing their appetites in the Cafe of the picturesque bay, with its crystal water, panoramic view of the sea and the typical souvenirs from the onsite shops.

SARANTAPICHOS

Sarantpichos is an archaeological area near Kalithies which is believed to be an acropolis that dates back to the archaic ages. There, in 2001, local students found four brass coins which have been given to the Inland Revenue. Those brass coins delineate the emperor Constantine II (337-361 a.c) and two soldiers holding banners.
